Our Story
Our family owned and operated business began rather unintentionally and our interest (some would say obsession) with the model railroading world started quite differently than in most families. My son Brandon has been an enthusiast since the age of two and continues to enjoy his hobby daily as a young adult. I (Troy) was introduced to the hobby by my son Brandon and what an interesting journey it has been for us both.
While Brandon was in middle school, we decided to open an eBay account for him to start buying and selling trains online. It was intended to give him an early introduction into business and entrepreneurship doing something he enjoyed.
Almost one year later our local hobby store was going out of business. On their last day of business we scoured the store looking for as many 75% off deals as we could get our hands on without being in the dog-house when we arrived home. Something magical happened and we ended up with all the remaining inventory of the store when the doors closed. Needless to say, we were both in the dog-house for some time.
We opened up an eBay store and within two years our hobby had turned into an enjoyable thriving little business. Brandon now works with me full-time while he continues his college studies and a few other rail yard workers have joined the team.
